Before starting the activity, read Teacher's Note to understand the function of the relevant adjectives.
1) Read the statement or question that precedes the first listening item (if applicable). 2) Click the "Item" button and listen for the information related to or introduced by the phrase/question you have just read. 3) Click the "Hint" button for help with difficulties in the item. 4) Move the pointer to the box, on the opposite side, containing "Choices". Select by clicking on the chosen description that best matches the item. 5) Move the cursor to the dialog box below Item 1 and click to place your choice in the box. 6) If you change your mind later, you can click the "Undo" button; then, select a new description from the choices box. 7) After you have answered all the questions, click the "Check Answer" button. Adjectival Predicate
Adjectives in Chinese can function directly as predicates. This kind of sentence is called an adjectival predicate sentence. In this activity, you will listen to some sentences, which have theadjectival predicate. Look at the table below for better understanding.

Notice that unlike English, subjects and predicates (adjectives) in a Chinese sentence are not linked by 是 (shì; to be) but by degree adverbs, such as 很 (hěn; very), 好 (hǎo; highly), 真 (zhēn; really), and 非常 (fēicháng; extraordinarily, extremely). Look at the table below for better understanding:
