Family relationships:
Family relationships are addressed with more precise names in Hindi, than they are in English. In India, there are different names for various types of relationships.
For example, in English, an aunt can be a mother's sister or a father's sister, as well as a distant relative from either side; whereas in Hindi, the mother's sister is called मौसी or मांसी, meaning "just like mother." A father's sister is called बुआ.
In English, both the father and mother's brothers are called uncle, whereas in Hindi, the mother's brother is called मामा. For the father's younger brother, the term चाचा is used and the father's older brother is known as ताऊ .
